Sometimes love affairs start young. My first time was when I was about 6 or 7 and from that moment I was hooked. Looking back through out my life pop, mainly coke, has been a crutch for me.
Having a bad day... Have a Coke
Fighting with my parents.... Have a Coke
Need to wake up in the morning... have a Coke
Now I know what pop does to you and have always known, my Grandmother used to tell me about this lady who she went to church with who lost a lot of stomach lining from drinking 7 cans a day. But that never stopped me. I know what it does... I just don't care was my attitude!
But now being the heaviest I have EVER been, I decided it was REALLY time to stop. I've tried, and failed at this so many times that I have lost count. I even started to drink coffee to replace it so I don't get headaches.
But this year I set a goal for myself. 366 days (Leap Year) without it. Mainly it says Coke. But I have decided after discussing it with people have determined this means ALL POP. Insert sad face here.
Here's why I asked that question. When I met Brian his mother introduced me to THE DRINK, Bourbon drink to be exact. It's a summer time kind of drink and within my group of friends I became famous for it. Problem is you uses 7UP with it. now you understand my sad face....
So alas there will be NO bourbon drink had by me this year. Sorry in advance to my mother in law and to my friends I'm sorry someone else will have to be the life of the party!
But I want to leave the recipe here for you.
1 can of frozen Orange Juice
1 can of frozen lemonade
1 cup of sugar
6 cups of water
1 cup of strong tea
2 cups of Bourbon... or 3 ;)
mix this all together in a large container and freeze.
Once frozen mix with your favorite lemon lime soda
and you can add another shot or two in your cup!

Friday...... Mind Games
Well folks we just completed week one of our new workout. And I got to thinking about how this is all really a mind game. Losing weight.
I will get into the details of the workout on Wednesday. But this program is about constantly battling your mind. So in weight loss in general we are always fighting the urge of should I eat this or that and do I really want to workout.
I love the saying "losing weight is hard, being overweight is hard, maintaining is hard, so choose your hard"
For me the working out isn't the tough part it is the nutrition. I use food to cope. When I was a kid it started with a coke, anytime parents would fight or I would fight or feel sad I reached for it. Now as an adult I reach for any kind of food.
As many times as it clicks that I have the power not to eat or binge and that I want to be healthy and honor my mom, it seems like the mind and food wins.
But the cool thing is every minute is a chance to get it right and everyday when you wake up you get a clean slate. So here is to mind over matter today!!!
XOXO Erin

Workout Wednesday: Hair Care
This edition of Workout Wednesday is for all of us with color treated hair. I get it you spend a lot of money on personal appearance. But you can't let that be an excuse to not workout, no joke I know someone who won't workout for a week after she dyes her hair. (insert side eye here)
Folks just workout. So I wanted to share how I keep my color going well after it is dyed and with several workouts under my belt.
1) Red heads, COLD water for washing. It sucks, but do it. Your color lasts so much longer.
2) Good shampoo! I rotate between two, one is a Pureology shampoo and conditioner, I only buy it twice a year when it is on sale at Ulta. The other is a off brand, but the ingredients are exactly the same, Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner.
3) Product! Don't ever use heat on you hair with out product.
Products listed above
*Pureology protecting oil for blow drying
*Macadamia oil for my ends.
*it's a 10 leave in miracle treatment (amazing)
*Sexy hair smoothing treatment, cause ask my stylist, My hair is a brillo pad!
*sexy hair root pump
* dry shampoo cause don't wash your hair everyday. I use it on my hair after a workout.
*and I use 2 kinds of Hairspray, it depends on how I am styling my hair. If it is a vintage style I do one kind and for just every day hair its a lose hold spray.

Friday Favorites!!! Work Edition!!!!
Not going to lie sometimes following you heart is the right thing, but you still have struggles. So today I want to share WHY I left my job to become a full-time blogger and health coach.
1) I have time to do the things I need to. If I need a doctors appointment I don't need anyone's permission to do so. And if I need a nap or to sleep in I can because I am my own boss.
2) T25 my workout soul-mate with my Trainer who again is my trainer soul-mate. In 25 minutes I get in my workout and I am set for the day!
3) I get to do cool things like MEET my soul-mate trainer, and get to travel to amazing places.
4) Helping people through health and fitness. When the decision was made that I wanted to coach, I knew I wanted to do it because losing my mother to health related issues, and teaching others that it was preventable and that I have the tools to help them. When I reach out to friends and family with my job I do it from a place of love, and a way to honor my mothers memory!
Did I mention I got to meet this guy?

Squat Like You Mean It! Workout Wed!
So I LOVE to squat. No for real. So I thought I would show you how I was taught to squat. (Shaun T style)
Start With you Feet hip width apart!
Lower yourself down. Weight in the heals.
Tuck your booty under
When you come up lift through your heals and push your hips forward. You should also tighten your lower abs.
Back view so you can see that you should also squeeze your glutes at the bottom and the top!
Also here is my daily check in video
